Congrats to Obama and his supporters |
|
As most of you know, I've bowed out for the past several months, in part because the acrimony had grown too much to bear. I couldn't stand the battles being waged day after day and decided I'd had enough.
In addition, I've had my chronic pain condition (still a mystery, btw) and my writing to keep and draw my attention. Right now I'm really pushing my "Tales from the Magitech Lounge," considering that I think it's my absolute best novel to date and because it wasn't classified as any kind of romance very few reviewers have bothered to read it. Other than the chronic pain, this is probably one of my biggest frustrations to date.
Aside from all of that, I wasn't at all interested in taking sides in the primary wars once Edwards left the race. Things were nasty before, but they just got worse as time went on. It's a wonder so many people stayed through it all. I have an extraordinary amount of patience to draw upon, but there's a point where I simply couldn't take any more.
I'd like to extend my slightly belated congratulations to Obama and his supporters here on DU. I'm glad we finally have a candidate presumptive.
Whew. I'm sure glad that's over.
It may be that I will wander through more often from here on out, as time permits. I'm always working on another novel or, if not a novel, then adding another short story to my catalog in the hopes of one day putting together an anthology with other authors adding their own perspective to my universe.
Rest assured that I haven't left all of this behind entirely. I've answered a couple of e-mails with my usual aplomb, and jumped into a discussion about how terrible it is that an atheist like Pullman dared to put out a book for children. Those who are familiar with my writing can probably guess how rapier sharp my response to that was. There are certain things I refuse to take lying down.
So there you have it. I've been gone, busy, in pain, and generally frustrated with the political circus all around. But I've missed many of my friends here and hope they've either stuck it out or will be wandering back now that the primary war has ended.
Again...congrats to the nominee and his fan club. As long as you all go out and whoop ol' McCrazy's butt in November, you've got my support.
Full speed ahead.
