3. Genius...
"Although The Washington Post quoted advisers to Mr. McCain on Sunday as saying Ms. Palin had been subjected to an F.B.I. background check, an F.B.I. official said Monday the bureau did not vet potential candidates and had not known of her selection until it was made public."

Being a member of the AIP will in all likelihood disqualify her from achieving a top secret security clearance.

Game over, right there.

Anyone who has gone through a background check of any kind will read that sentence and instantly be disgusted.

I thought he was done yesterday. Tomorrow ain't gonna be good for the former Maverick. Not at all.

10. oh oh oh...
I think I got it now...

The reason that Sarah Palin waited 10 to 12 hours after her water broke with her latest pregnancy is that she really wanted her kid to be a "native born Alaskan"... because if Alaska does secede from the union, she didn't want any question as to whether her kid was a citizen of the new nation of Alaska.

That's the only thing that makes any sense (well, sense in nutso world).

14. She filled out a form with MORE THAN SEVENTY questions?

in my best Tweety voice.... HA!

I once went through a security background check for "classified" (and I can't tell you the level of classification) position with a government contracting company.

They asked hundreds of questions. The form was enormous. And a lie detector test. And they checked everything. I got calls from old friends from junior high and high school asking me what the hell was going on. My parents got a call from an old neighbor of ours when I was 3 years old (moved when I was 5).

It took months.

McCain asks her to fill out a questionnaire with 70 questions? And talks with her for maybe 15 minutes... for the VICE PRESIDENCY?

Holy Crap.

15. McCain's choice reveals him to be reckless and a loose cannon
"...While there was no sign that her formal nomination this week was in jeopardy, the questions swirling around Ms. Palin on the first day of the Republican National Convention, already disrupted by Hurricane Gustav, brought anxiety to Republicans who worried that Democrats would use the selection of Ms. Palin to question Mr. McCain’s judgment and his ability to make crucial decisions.

At the least, Republicans close to the campaign said it was increasingly apparent that Ms. Palin had been selected as Mr. McCain’s running mate with more haste than McCain advisers initially described."

17. When the guy got up and stated today that they were a unified party,
I knew they were not. In fact, everything the guy said was to try to deny realities that exist in the RNC. If something is true, you don't have to trumphet it. But if you are trying to spin something, you do.

They are split, fractured and dysfunctional. They are fighting and backbiting. They are punching at each other as they all go over the waterfall together.

They are dividing into their parts: evangelicals one way, libertarians another way, neocons a third way, moderates Obama's way.

Schadenfreude.

Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 01:58 AM by GrizzlyMan
Obama getting to 50 percent in a national poll was nice, but if anyone saw the USA Today article with all of the other questions asked in the poll including who shares your values, strongest leader, knows the economy etc. and Obama was leading in every one of them.

I just get a lost in the weeds vibe from the Repukes because they're stuck with an uninspiring nominee and a woefully unqualified VP nominee who I don't believe will survive the week and I just don't think Fundies can do it for the GOP this time like they did in 2004.

39. This quote makes me wonder about something:
“They obviously felt it was worth the risk to rev up the base...” Mr. Schnur said.

When we attack someone the base likes, doesn't that just stir them up more? So maybe this was a calculated move to energize the base.

They knew she had lots of issues that would fire up Democrats and make us vocal. When we become vocal and attack their candidate, the base gets energized. Especially with the Bristol thing--nothing fires up their base more than perceived attacks on family values.

41. Unfortunate Quote Of The Day...
“They didn’t seriously consider her until four or five days from the time she was picked, before she was asked, maybe the Thursday or Friday before,” said a Republican close to the campaign. “This was really kind of rushed at the end, because John didn’t get what he wanted. He wanted to do Joe or Ridge.

Now I've got to get that picture out of my mind. Ewwwwww!
