"Well I certainly wouldn't vote for someone who believes in killing babies" |

"No ma'am, just adults" (CLICK!)
Me, making ID calls at phonebanking last night.
I had to get up and walk around a bit after that before I got back to work. Seriously not what we're supposed to be doing. We're not arguing, just polling the peoples so that we'll know who to target and who to drop from our lists for October's persuasion calls.
Musta had a short fuse last night.

There has been hundreds of millions of people killed due to wars throughout time, perhaps even more than a billion. I don't know exactly, I can't find any official or unofficial total.
Add that to the number of people that the Biblical Old Testament "God" Jehovah personally killed, or ordered to be killed through his minions, in the 2 or 3 thousand years before Christ appeared. Hundreds of thousands, perhaps more.
Evangelical Xtians don't care about that though. That kind of death is approved and sanctioned, by their very own "God". But have an abortion? Ultimate sin. Punishable by death.
Friggen hypocrites. :grr:

You'd never see that on a "pro-life" bumper sticker though.

9. Isn't it vicious? I can't help but think it's racially motivated. I can't recall the use of the |

the term "baby killer" in recent political history to describe someone who is pro-choice.

Anyone like to assist me with this?
I am around these nut-cases quite a bit, but what I would like to do is present a succinct argument that proves on balance, that from a Christian standpoint, Democratic ideals outweigh Republican ideals. Abortion is just one point, one issue that does not justify all the other evils that are being done. These evils consist of lying, stealing, killing innocents which includes the torture and slaughter of innocent beasts such as Palin does to wolves.
For instance, lets take the inquisition. Based on one issue logic, was it the right thing to do to torture and all of those people based on the idea that they might be a heretic or a witch? Was it? If that one issue had been abortion instead of heresy, would it then have been the right thing to do? Would it be something Christians today would be proud of? Would it be something that Jesus would look favorably upon?
One can be against abortion and I have no problem with their opinions of this. However, are they willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater with regards to their most cherished religious beliefs in order to accomplish an end to abortion. If the answer is yes, then I would tell these people that they need to go back to their bibles, and they need to look into their hearts, and that it would be a very good thing if they took some time to really analyze their real motivations along with how close they are to their savior. If he is really in their heart, then their answer would be something entirely different.

Who don't seem to be as important to these folks as the pre-born ones. Once you're born, you can go fuck yourself, apparently.

8. I hear that a lot. It makes me crazy. You can't convince some people (the ones with teeny weeny |
|
IQ's) that being pro-CHOICE is not the same thing as being pro-ABORTION. And you can NEVER convince most people who are 'pro-life' (a completely ironic term if I ever heard one) that abortion isn't murdering an innocent baby. For reasons unknown to me they skip that whole gestation period and go right to the cute gurgling stage.

16. The problem is a disagreement on this exact issue. |
|
Obviously, no one other than a total psychopath wishes to "kill babies." Democrats, Republicans, Liberals, Atheists, Christians, etc. all agree that "killing babies" is a very bad thing to do.
The argument, then, should center around why one side believes that an embryo is a viable human being and the other side does not. I think its unfair to portray liberals as people who gleefully cheer on abortions, just as its unfair to portray conservatives as people who want to punish unmarried, sexually active females by forcing them to give birth to an unwanted child. Its simply not an easy issue, but I do try to understand all positions.
Ideally, we should all work towards a decrease in unwanted pregnancies through advances in birth control and sex education. That's the only solution I see to the entire abortion conundrum.

11. There's something out there about Obama and not supporting a bill |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-16-08 09:16 AM by LittleClarkie
a "born alive" bill of some sort that Obama didn't vote for when he was a State Senator. That seems to be what some people are reacting to. Something about aborted babies getting health care if they are alive when they are aborted. Sounds pretty heinous to hear the pro-life folk talk about it, but I'm sure it's not as simple as they're making it sound.
