Spotlight on "Keeping Jobs in America"
It is paramount that we rebuild America's economic independence. The huge trade deficit, coupled with trade agreements like CAFTA or NAFTA have robbed this country of its strength. The growth in the trade deficit, which now exceeds $300 billion, has destroyed millions of high-wage, high-skilled manufacturing jobs in the U.S. and has pushed workers into other sectors, such as restaurants and health service industries, where wages are lower. Just as important is the constant push to outsource both the office worker job and professional technical jobs.

Trade deficits have a direct impact on wages. The average real wage for U.S. production workers peaked in 1978, and has been declining ever since (exception: the upswing in Clinton's second term). The steady growth in our trade deficits over the past two decades has eliminated millions of U.S. manufacturing jobs. At the present rate it will not be long before America makes nothing.

Let's reward businesses that use 100% American employees for business conducted in America; we'll make up the deficits by increasing the burden on businesses that are not American owned or who outsource their work to other countries. Businesses are not evil by nature and simply employ strategies that make the most financial sense. Private industry can only flourish and create prosperity for all when it is balanced by strong public policy that protects the interests of the people (who, after all, don't make very good customers if they are bankrupt).

Establishing tariffs for imported goods makes doing business as an American business a good business decision. We can once again become a viable producer of goods if our policies make "doing the right thing" a winning business proposition. 100% American companies should be consulted as to the proper price point in the goods that they produce. That will allow them the opportunity to establish a goal price where they can continue to operate at a profit while still providing their employees with the standard of living that we are used to in this country.

Companies that choose to outsource American jobs will be charged a premium to do business in America. Use tariffs and corporate taxes to make those outsourced salaries equivalent to doing business in the US. A company may still outsource for other reasons, but job cost reduction will not be one of them. All revenues gained from this outsource tax plan will be used to assist American owned companies with insourcing, price fluctuations, or other issues related to making American business stronger, better and more competitive.

We can no longer allow an unchecked globalized economy to continue to weaken America.

These are exciting times! The constituents of District 24 demand that Tom Feeney take a lie-detector test, answering these three questions (based on Clint's testimony on a sworn affidavit, Li nk to Affidavit PDF):

1. Have you ever illegally sold your vote for personal gain?

2. Have you ever assisted a company that has been illegally engaged in espionage against this country?

3. Have you ever attempted to illegally manipulate election results?

These questions are based on incidents that Clint Curtis witnessed first hand when he worked with Feeney in 2000.

11/02/06-11/07/06 Validate the Vote with Team Curtis at the Space Coast Fair. It will be fun!

11/07/06 Election Day - All Day. Someday, we hope that election day will be a national holiday so that employment is not jeopardized when we vote. Clint feels the same way.

I will never forget Feeney's despicable role in the 2000 election when he threatened to subvert democracy by imposing his personal will over that of the citizens of Florida and, by extension, the country as a whole.
