Here's a profile of the small number of undecided voters, courtesy of Survey USA:
Sex: 61% Women, 39% Men
- This makes women even more important going into November- the gender gap is already large.
Advantage: WebbAge: 60% Under 49, 40% Over 50
A lot of undecideds are young people, or young families.
Advantage: WebbRace: 61% White, 39% Minority
Minorities almost double their influence from the overall population in the undecided voter pool.
Advantage: WebbParty: 42% Independent, 41% Democratic, 17% Republican.
Advantage: WebbIdeology: 52% Moderate, 26% Conservative, 22% Liberal. Conservative ideology usually leads liberal by a huge margin in the general electorate, so the undecideds being so close means, once again:
Advantage: WebbBush: 20% Approve, 80% Disapprove.
Advantage: WebbArea: 61% Suburban, 27% Urban, 12% Rural.
Advantage: WebbMarriage Amendment: 74% Yes, 26% No.
Advantage: AllenOf the eight indicators, seven show a favorable environment for Webb among undecided voters. That coupled with Allen's lead within the margin of error makes this a heckuva race going into Labor Day.
