Where Are the Majority of Rednecks?
I have to say it has to be central VA. I'm in the Richmond area. Today somebody duct-taped over my Impeach Bush sticker. Who the hell goes around carrying duct tape with them??? You guessed it--a redneck!

I certainly have no respect for any moron that supports Bush, but I definitely respect their right to do so. Too bad we can't say the same for them. The right wingnuts definitely have no desire for a democracy!

I know Virginia is turning purple but not here.

1. I think you are confusing Rednecks with
right-wing nut jobs not that they cant be one and the same but I know plenty of rednecks in swva who are not bush supporters and are not even political I even know a few who are very reliable dems i know redneck can be a pretty broad term but I would say that maybe who your pointing the finger of blame at is the wrong group of people.

2. I truly don't know a redneck
But I just imagine they carry duct tape in their vehicles! I think of right wing nut jobs as suit wearers! Just my own stereotyping!

Edited on Tue Oct-02-07 05:59 PM by SCRUBDASHRUB
think I've ever seen them wear a suit.

One of the guys had what looked like an invitation from the "American Family Association." I googled it, and, boy, they are one scary group. The other guy gets emails from Human Events, Ann Coulter, etc.

Company president lives in Charlottesville, which may be a good sign. Who knows, though?!

4. I think some rednecks voted for Jim Webb
That was a smart move because Webb will represent their interests better than the corporations.

13. I think you're right.
I met a man about a month ago, right after we moved here. By the looks of him, I would have prejudicially said, "Bush-lover, Democrat hater, God, country, blah blah blah." He wears a John Deere cap, has a big beer belly hanging over his worn jeans, and has few to no teeth in his mouth.

Amazingly, he started talking one day, and he can't stand Bush, can't stand the war, and wants impeachment on the table.

I was humbled, and am working in this "Red" part of the commonwealth to try not to prejudge again :)

5. Don't Have Time to Read Entire Article
But, thanks. I'm a city girl from the northeast transplanted to the south! I always think of a redneck as a person driving a pickup truck with a gun rack! I don't think of his politics as making him a redneck. If you've got a pickup truck, you probably have duct tape! That was my whole point. I'm sorry if I made it badly.

9. It is...
Edited on Sat Sep-08-07 09:56 AM by virginia mountainman
Concealed Carry Weapon...but really in Virgina, it is a CHP, Concealed Handgun permit, and it applies to long guns as well.

Virginia, is a "Shall issue" state, which means, they need a good reason to DENY the permit, if they don't have that reason, they "Shall issue" it.

Here is some info, if yer interested.. http://www.vsp.state.va.us/Firearms_ResidentConcealed.shtm

If this idea makes you nervous, just think of this, Virginia, is considered a "low crime" state, with its relative lack of gun control, but look across the river, into DC, with it TOTAL GUN BAN.....

Notice the difference in crime, and quality of life.

EDIT: to answer the other part of you question, no, but I do carry black electrical tape :7

8. Rednecks=GOP?
Well, I live in the Lynchburg area and would have to say it doesn't get any more conservative than here. All of my family lives in the mountains of southwest VA and the people there would fit the stereotypical "redneck" much more closely than most around here. Funny thing is, most of Virginia west of Roanoke (including my family) votes Democrat. So I wouldn't automatically equate being a redneck with being a conservative. Of course, most of the true rednecks prolly don't vote. :patriot:

10. I hail for SWVA myself...
Some of the most CONSERVATIVE PEOPLE I KNOW, are staunch Democrats. What folks refer to as "yellow dogs" which means they would vote for a "yellow dog" if it was on the Democratic ticket.

18. *shudder*
You bring back "wonderful" memories of when I was going to school in Lynchburg during the '04 election. One of my professors was supporting Kerry, and apparently people in his neighborhood were stealing Kerry signs! That and with liberty u nearby, it was not a very liberal area outside of the campus. :scared:

Now in Roanoke I've noticed far less of that. It seems to be more friendly, at least within some miles of the Hollins U. campus, lol... I need to get out more.

12. I don't know for sure, but
at my high school in Augusta County:

1) The theme for the homecoming dance my freshman year was "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy."

2) My junior prom was held IN A BARN. Seriously.

Hi WhoIsNumberNone! :hi:

as an American, Im embarrassed to call these people my fellow countrymen. As a Christian, I am ashamed.

Since I try to look on the bright side of life (LIfe of Brian anyone?) I will say this: I am proud of their zeal. Too bad its steeped in hatred...
