How long must we wait for the end of the world? It's been predicted |
|
for many thousands of years and I'm getting tired of waiting.

2. Apparently it's always imminent. |
|
Then when it doesn't come, the wackos say that proves them right and they set another date. And on and on it goes. People sure are stupid!

|
on the existence of mankind/womankind,, the universe and the earth are forever,, we are like the dinosaurs,, only visitors,, we don't make up the earth we are only temporary

ends on December 21, 2012.
What could this mean?
12 21 212
1221212
1221 212
If you are tired of waiting, you do have options.

10. Well, you could just choose to adopt a calendar with different arbitrary divisions, |
|
Edited on Sun Apr-26-09 12:01 PM by Occam Bandage
or one starting at a different arbitrary year, or adopt a different arbitrary base numeral for your counting system instead of 10. That makes any numerical coincidences disappear, and in their place inserts a whole different host of them.

9. It's ended plenty of times. |
|
Whenever people start talking about "the end of the world," they're usually responding to stirrings of societal or cultural change. They see the world as they know it ending, and it's very difficult to distinguish "the world as I know it" from "the world," for obvious reasons.
The world ended in the 400s AD. The world ended around 1000 AD. The world ended around 1500 AD, around 1700 AD, certainly around 1800 AD, around 1850 AD, and ended just about every decade of the 20th century. Given that the ends of the world seem to be accelerating, I would estimate that the world will enter a constant state of ending sometime this century.
