TOKYO — The USS Oklahoma City, a Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine, will move to Guam next year and replace the USS City of Corpus Christi, according to a news release from Guam’s congresswoman, U.S. Rep. Madeleine Bordallo.

The City of Corpus Christi, also a Los Angeles-class sub, will move to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, the release said.

The Navy has made no official announcement of a move involving Guam-based submarines, Lt. Cmdr. Dave Benham, a spokesman with the Commander Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet in Hawaii, said Wednesday morning.

Derek Mandell, a spokesman for Bordallo, said the congresswoman learned of the move from the Navy’s Office of Legislative Affairs in Washington.

Currently, the Oklahoma City is based at Norfolk, Va. It was commissioned in 1988. The Oklahoma City would join two other submarines based on Guam — the USS Houston and USS Buffalo — and the submarine tender USS Frank Cable.
