When I was getting dressed this morning, I had MSNBC on. Guess who was giving quitting smoking tips? Our Mr. Olbermann his own self. (Okay, it was pre-taped). But if they're running it, hopefully that means he hasn't been drop kicked by Rick Kaplan & Co. (Besides, now that Anderson Cooper and Dan Abrams are feuding, that should keep him busy.)

and I'm not worried about Keith getting drop-kicked. He's got a history of landing on his feet and usually in a much better situation. I suspect he's a more marketable commodity than Kaplan is -- and Kaplan knows it -- and that might be part of the reason for last Monday's screamfest.

I think we need not worry about KO. All will be fine. I am, however, really curious about the upcoming MSNBC divorce from MS. Hopefully everyone we like will stay employed at whatever broadcasting entity emerges out of it all.

6. Anderson v. Dan ... the untold story |
|
Or told now, via the New York Post's Page Six:
DON'T invite CNN's Anderson Cooper and MSNBC's Dan Abrams to the same picnic. Cooper started it last Thursday when he criticized his "cable competitors" for their "downright ridiculous" coverage of the Natalee Holloway case in Aruba. Cooper showed clips of Abrams and Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly and Greta Van Susteren. "I love it when media folks try to jump on the journalistic high horse," Abrams slammed back the next night. He pointed out that Cooper's CNN colleagues Larry King and Nancy Grace have both been covering the Holloway disappearance. What was "holier-than-thou" Cooper covering? "The disappearance of the newlywed on a cruise ship . . . women who love killers and the Jackson jurors," Abrams said. "You might want to take a 360-degree look around your own house and clean it up, before telling us which disinfectant we should use in our kitchen."
My first thought...all the Anderson Cooper groupies on DataLounge must be having coronaries!

he's absolutely right. I miss Dan. I wish they'd put him back in the timeslot after Keith.
Hey, did you guys notice they showed Rita after the late airing of Countdown last night? I'm not sure if there was any Tucker at all.

10. Tucker's on right before Keith. |
|
After the late show, it's supposed to be Hardball. Maybe they preempted it after Tweety's remarkable show of insensitivity to Cindy... and the fact that at that time, roughly, is when the asshole went cross-mowing at Camp Cindy.

11. You're right, it should be Tweety after the late showing. |
|
Why am I not surprised he was a prick? You know, they've had David Gregory on so much I've begun to wonder if Tweety's days were numbered. No such luck, apparently.

9. Aw, I've really grown to like Dan. |
|
His "q"te-ness potential, his improvement in tie and wardrobe over the weeks.... He's like someone's kid brother who tries really hard. And I want to give him credit for that, too. Rarely does he make the cheap shot - and to lump him in with O'Reilly??? Not fair. x(

16. I'm more worried about the budget cuts at MSNBC. |
|
The news division is going to have to chop, chop, chop...and Keith don't come cheap.
Seems they are really being picayune about expenses, too. No more office supply purchases and no refreshments at meetings unless they involve someone from outside.
Reminds me of a previous employer where we stopped getting our wastebaskets emptied every day because they had to cut down on cleaning staff. Sheesh.

17. ah, yes. I can remember an employer who was into |
|
"administrative leanness" which was really more like "administrative anorexia". The big boss kept saying we couldn't afford to hire another administrative assistant. I should have done the breakdown for him on how many hours I spent photocopying and shredding documents when we selected and awarded a contract; he would have been appalled at how much that cost, given my salary at the time.
