The downside of emancipation
Unwanted, he pushes me out of myself.
His voice becomes mine, my face becomes his
My skin wrinkles and spots to match his age,
I am going empty, as his afterlife sucks life from me.
It is all that I can do to cut myself free of him
with a scissor's blade, or utility knife.
But I do cut through our tangled selves
And when they find me I lie alone, bleeding.
Freedom brings Halcion but no celebration--
Dim lights and bathrooms without doors,
If I am good I can have juice that's kept behind the desk.
If I am not, they will let Silvia lick my toes.
