I was over at the Smiking Chimp, and thought of Nostamj |
|
Do you guys remember him?
I met him here, but we were frequent visitors at the Smirking Chimp.
Too many good ones taken from us way too soon

18. We need a DU burial ground |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-23-06 09:16 PM by sweetheart
A forum of Gravestone threads where people can leave flowers and remember the dead. nostamj was a wise hearted soul, indeed. Maybe in that forum, the threads would not branch, not a discussion forum per se, but a place for messages for, to and honouring the dead. Maybe with some cool graphical flowers that can be left until they wilt.
I'm sure nostamj is having a painless happy laugh in the light, and we'll all visit him soon years enough, time will catch you too, and when 80,000 are dead, will there be a burial ground?

24. A burial ground forum is not separate, rather sacred |
|
Statistically, the remember beloved poster threads will only increase ever year, not tombstones, memorials to the dead; a wailing ground, not a mourners group, a burning ground, a burning ghat, a place where the utterly besotted dance for love of their lost ones lives.

25. He was one of the good guys, alright. |
|
There are those who have taken up his practice of posting the best political cartoons of the day, so that's a legacy that makes him impossible to forget. I must admit, though, that despite still laughing at the cleverness of whatever cartoons get posted nowadays, it feels a bit bittersweet to read those posts knowing whose tradition it is that's being carried on.
You had a lot of fans here, nostamj. You are still sorely missed.

I'll never forget.
Not just because he was such a great guy, and an ace member of DU, but he made a custom bumper sticker for me. He really took care with it, and I get a lot of comments on it, all favorable. It says:
Dear Troops: Wish You Were Here

31. It was at the SmirkingChimp |
|
that I 1st learned of Jeff's incredible talent for song writing and revues. Soon after 9/11, I followed him here.
When he created Question W, we traded many emails, which led to me creat graphic after graphic from ideas he gave me, for his Question W website.
In real life, I met an art student that helped me draw Question W's in chalk on my town's sidewalks. That is, until a cop told us we were being naughty and made us stop. But! not before I took photos of our wonderful art. ;)
Before a trip to my state's capital, I made up some Question W stickers, which I placed on the walls of the capitol building, on my state senator's desk and outside the office of the governor.
But my favorite was a sterling silver Question W pin I made and wore on one of my black hats. I've not worn that hat since Jeff passed away.
God, I miss him so much!

|
He seemed like a deep thinking, gentle soul.
I felt very happy for him that he got a chance to stage an anti Bush musical revue in NY - unfortunately for me I missed seeing it - but I think that was his passion and he actually got to see it on stage.
I miss his other "tunes" which he was so great to share with all of us. I miss him.
