Los Angeles passes 'living wage' law |
|
Hotels near Los Angeles International Airport will soon be required to pay their employees a so-called living wage.
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has signed a measure that goes into effect Dec. 30 and affects about 3,500 workers at a dozen hotels, the Los Angeles Times said Tuesday.
The law requires the hotels to pay $9.39 per hour plus healthcare benefits or $10.64 per hour without such benefits.
A strong economy and fair treatment of our workforce should never be mutually exclusive. They should go hand in hand, Villaraigosa said more... Woo hoo now for the rest of the country
