While we wait for Sicko, a look back at one of Moore's best pieces ever. Funeral at an HMO. |

God bless Michael Moore and Chris for standing up to these tyrants.
Our healthcare system is immoral.

3. Apparently, a lot of people are not waiting for "Sicko". |
|
I was reading yesterday that it has been pirated, and is now readily available for download. This will probably put a crimp in ticket sales for the movie, except for the neocons who might want to see it, but not put any money in Michael Moore's pocket.

5. I expect the movie will still do very well, movies end up on the internet all the time |
|
Moore actually encouraged people to download Fahrenheit 9/11, he is more concerned about getting his message out than he is about the bottom line. That being said I encourage everyone to go see the movie in the theater, as big opening weekend receipts will bring a lot of attention to the movie.

9. Do movies often wind up online before the premiere, though? |
|
I know that pirated DVDs will often be for sale in Asia before a movie opens in the U.S.

I know Star Wars Episode III did, and that still managed to pull in some huge box office numbers. Most people do not download movies online.

23. Farenheit 9/11 was on the internet 1 week before it opened. Didn't seem to hurt sales. |

13. I can't imagine pirating will take ALL the sales, |
|
as you suggest. We will see. I bet it's a huge hit.

19. I'm not sure I could handle watching it. |
|
I've been at the receiving end of a lot of "health care" crappola. I was going to type that my life has never been on the line, but when I think about it, yes it has. My life is on the line right now. A bunch of bureaucratic red tape is keeping me from seeing the kind of doctor I need to see. Maybe I should take a camera to the "health care" facilities and see what happens? :)

21. Michale Moore released a video message that said more or less I am already well off |
|
I want everyone to see the movie. If a friend lent you a copy he wouldn't mind and if that friend happens to be a stranger over the internet as long as they weren't making any money off of it that would be fine with him.

14. For those who have not seen The Awful Truth, |
|
the series where this piece came from, I can't recommend it enough. It's some of Moore's best work ever, and some of his funniest. It only ran for two seasons, but you can get the entire series on DVD. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

THAT"S what we need a lot more of!
Oh, and fuck Humana. Long, hard and deep.
On edit: How often do you see Michael Moore as clearly enraged with anyone, as he was with that PR weenie? He was all over him with The Icy Tones of Doom.
