THOUSAND CUTS / narration by Bernie Sanders |
|
A THOUSAND CUTS is a timelapse video of the event. The soundtrack was inspired by an excerpt from Senator Bernie Sanders 8 hour filibuster on the U.S. Senate floor against the extension of the Bush tax cuts and the effects on the middle class. It is orchestrated to music by composer/violinist Michael Galasso.

3. Beautifully done, Bernie Sanders is so correct on so many matters |
|
He is the only true advocate for the middle class we have in this bizarro world our government lives in.
He speaks the truth while the rest speak out of both sides of their mouths.
We, the middle class, are doomed if we don't eliminate the right wing as well as the blue dog Democrats that "pretend" to be our leadership.
The only thing they are leading is the charge to disaster in favor of their own self interests.
The time for rebellion is at hand.
Speak loud and speak clear, we MUST fight back.
The rich DO NOT create jobs.
We, the small business owners create jobs.
The rich DO NOT strengthen our economy.
We, the middle class and the poor do.
The time for rebellion is at hand.
Speak loud and speak clear, we must fight back.
Kennedy raised the debt ceiling 4 times for a total increase of 5%. Johnson raised the debt ceiling 7 times for a total increase of 18%. Nixon raised the debt ceiling 9 times for a total increase of 36%. Ford raised the debt ceiling 5 times for a total increase of 41%. Carter raised the debt ceiling 9 times for total increase of 59%. Reagan raised the debt ceiling 18 times for a total increase of 199%. George H.W. Bush raised the debt ceiling 9 times for a total increase of 48%. Clinton raised the debt ceiling 4 times for a total increase of 44%. George W. Bush raised the debt ceiling 7 times for a total increase of 90%. Obama has raised the debt ceiling 3 times for a total increase of 26%.
Reagan 199%, Bush 90% The highest of the last 10 Presidents, Republicans, Something is wrong here
Speak loud and speak clear, we must fight back.
The time for rebellion is at hand.

4. Speed, somehow the truth doesn't matter anymore. |

I hope you are right about rebellion. I hope it can be peaceful, I have a feeling that the Robber Barons will not allow that.
IMO, it is a generational greed thing. When the last Great Depression was still in the public consciousness, the wealthy were proud to contribute in a large way to our society.
Seventy years later, the wealthy have forgotten the past and blinded by $$, believe they should have it all, taxes are for peasants and suckers who can't afford lobbyists.
While I am "underwater" on my home, I know 4 people who have bought newer second homes or vacation homes. I struggle and I am looked down on.
I can understand with housing and finance pricing so low. When I made good money, I didn't mind paying 35% of it in taxes,( middle class. Union worker) it was a badge of honor. It seems that to many,it is a badge of stupidity these days.
They talk of people on food-stamps and medicaid as if they want to be there and enjoy poverty. They deserve what they have and instead of paying more in taxes they believe they should buy more toys and look down on the impoverished.
I am far from jealous of these people, I do wish they saw things differently. Until we take money out of politics or we have another depression where everyone becomes equal, these beliefs will only increase.
You do not pay people what they are worth, you know that others are eager to work. Benefits? That's their problem. On and on it goes, to the point that the upper class are taught to despise the poor, because "they just want your money."
These sentiments have "trickled down" to the small middle class, thanks to propaganda. They don't realize that they are next on the menu for the Robber Barons.
We are falling so low as a nation because we have no universally shared pride. It is them against us, in our own country. Money has not "trickled down", but this mind-set has.
We can cure these problems but until we have no money involved in politics, we won't.

have no viable socialist party when there are enough socialists in the Democratic Party and within the electorate to form one? The real problem is that the country has millions of socialist who don't yet know they're socialist.
