Who knew? The pundits insist that only liberals and/or the "far-left" want a public option. Something doesn't add up here....

"Moderate" is another word for sell-out.

That is all.

2. heh heh
this is, in fact, true. if people are asked their opinion about various issues, America generally polls far more liberal on issues than the media would have you believe. even if they don't know they're liberal because Fox has worked so hard to make that a bad word.

12. Correct. The demonization of the word began with Reagan/Bush.
It was there before them, but they began to control more of the media at that point.

Does that mean that a majority of Americans are pro-war reactionaries?

5. I have to wonder about polls like these
20% of the American public can't even find our Country on a map. So what are the odds that the general public is informed on and understands an issue as complex as HCR?

16. Thank you....not to mention
those of us who can find the US on a map (along with a few other countries as well)...HCR is so complex that I believe even educated people cannot fathom every. single. point. and. nuance.

Oh, they like to tell themselves they do, but unless they've read all two bazillion pages thoroughly, I would bet only a small handful really "gets" it.

I know I don't thoroughly understand it all, and I'm not going to pretend I do.

There are lots of "gray areas" in life. Very few things are exactly what they seem, especially when it comes to personal issues involving us imperfect humans.

And polls....bah. Someone might think one way today and something else tomorrow.

I too wonder about "polls" like that

17. I would suggest it goes even beyond understanding the bill
one needs to understand the complex interactions in the health care system. There are so many players in that system. From general physicians, to specialists, to hospitals, to medical testing centers, to labs, to insurance companies, to pharmaceutical companies and medical device and hospital supply manufacturers, to regulatory agencies, to Medicare and Medicaid, to preventative medicine and so on and so on

6. bzzzt. tyou're demonstrating a failure of critical thinking.
it's simply a ridiculous claim that can't be backed up. Anyone who thinks that the American public is liberal is simply delusional. On some issues, as a whole, the American public is liberal. On others it's conservative. And if you have such faith in polls; virtually every poll out there indicates that far more Americans identify as conservative than liberal.

13. Wrong Again
You can always identify a Fox News viewer when they start citing "statistics" that exist only in their own minds. Only about 20% of people identify themselves as Conservatives, which makes them about HALF the number of people who identify themselves Liberals. But I guess when you get your numbers from people who claim that 78 bazillion people attended Glenn Beck's March of the Sugarplum Teabaggers.........

18. sorrry, I don't watch Fux or any other news. And by your, er, standards, genius
the OP is a Fux News viewer. I have nothing but contempt for made up bullshit like that contained in your feeble post, dear. Please stuff this in your little pipe and have a good smoke:

Conservatives” Are Single-Largest Ideological Group
Percentage of “liberals” higher this decade than in early ’90s
by Lydia Saad

PRINCETON, NJ -- Thus far in 2009, 40% of Americans interviewed in national Gallup Poll surveys describe their political views as conservative, 35% as moderate, and 21% as liberal. This represents a slight increase for conservatism in the U.S. since 2008, returning it to a level last seen in 2004. The 21% calling themselves liberal is in line with findings throughout this decade, but is up from the 1990s.

These annual figures are based on multiple national Gallup surveys conducted each year, in some cases encompassing more than 40,000 interviews. The 2009 data are based on 10 separate surveys conducted from January through May. Thus, the margins of error around each year's figures are quite small, and changes of only two percentage points are statistically significant.

And it's not just gallup. it's every polling concern that reflects this.

Oh, yeah. Welcome to DU. Not

No wonder we're getting mostly moderate reforms. Congress people tend to reflect their constituents.
Of course their constituents are often brainwashed by the media.

And there is nothing in the OP that suggests I do. If anything I am attacking the right-stacked morning blow show. I am not easily pacified by the MSM giving us two or three hours on week day evenings. Some here are I guess.

23. You'd actually have to watch and observe first.
You've written that you don't watch Fox or any other news station and that I follow Fox. Why on earth would I do that? And where in the OP is there a suggestion of that?
If you think Fox is the only problem, there is no need to discuss any further. Wow. The sky is blue. Unrec me.
