http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/09/05/us-texas-wildfires-idUSTRE78426D20110905OK, let me make two points first off:
1) Nobody deserves to be hit with a natural disaster. Anyone who says so, be they a fundamentalist preacher, or eco-warrior, is trying to play God. It does not matter if victims of a disaster are in red or blue states, we help them, period.
2) While Texas produced W. and Perry, it also produced some great liberals like Molly Ivins, Jim Hightower, and Kris Kristofferson. These folk are not only impeccable liberals, but they could also teach the left a LOT about actually getting the message out to the working class, something that is a very serious weakness.
That being said, I would hope that some texans remember this when they hear Ron Paul and Rick Perry talk about disaster funding. Part of the reason we as Americans get clobbered is because we think bad things happen to "other people." They do not realize that Rick Cantor will happily sell them down the river too, especially if the Chinese are buying.
