This is Bush's solution to the trade deficit:

"People can buy more United States products if they're worried about the trade deficit."

That's like saying the unemployment can be eliminated by people just going out and finding jobs. The administration's actual trade policies are just kicking the door further open.

Look, there are actually good things about a weak dollar, even though it doesn't address the trade balance with China (whose currency is tied to the dollar). But nothing in US policy supports a stronger dollar.

How can any president come out with stuff like this and keep a straight face? Or avoid being jeered off the podium?
