Actually, the economy is doing better, but it's far from good. The bounce is also pretty anemic because the dollar keeps losing ground, making the recovery little more than an investor-generated anticipation of a "bottom" that isn't materializing.

Compared to the Clinton era, the economy still sucks.

So long as we didn't ENTIRELY ignore the tsunami, he'd get somewhat of a bounce from that. He got a huge bounce off 9/11 regardless of the fact it was totally an accident of, if not propagated by, the administration's laziness.

It's like sharing an umbrella with someone you don't like only because it's raining. The fact they exist at that particular makes them appear somewhat more competent, but not really.
