72. Here is Some 'Framing' we can use
'it's called social security for a reason. It is an insurance plan (compare it to auto, homeowner's or health insurance). It pools our "risk," and allows for a basic income when we retire or become disabled. Re-focus the idea of 'personal account' = IRA, 401k, employer pension. Get people thinking about THAT. Then, build in that social SECURITY is a protection against
total poverty. We can play the fear card too. AND, it isn't just fear factor, either. Private account = individual risk. Say something that brings to mind their own parents, grandparents or kids. We need to personalize the message. Do people want to end up supporting their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc, or being a burden to their children? What if they have no family and their personal account value crashes? No safety valve.
