Learn whatever you can about network security, computer security,
encryption, intrusion detection, PKI, anything to do with security. They can't outsource all of that.

A few years back, when my employer as cancelling projects and having
a massive layoff, the security group (ours) had no layoffs at all,
and was allowed to hire internally. That growth has continued.

Security also lends itself to consulting, which by its nature cannot
be outsourced completely.

Your mileage may vary, but this has worked for me.
