Tallahassee, Florida – A spokesman for the Department of Children and Families was summarily fired Friday night following his arrest on charges of producing child pornography.

Al Zimmerman, DCF spokesman since March of 2005, was arrested in Lakeland and taken to the Hillsborough County jail for booking, authorities said.

Investigators said he solicited at least two victims between the ages of 16 and 17 to perform lewd acts which he used to create child pornography.

If convicted on all charges, Zimmerman could be sentenced to a maximum of 120 years in prison, McCollum said.

Zimmerman had one prior arrest, for obtaining property in return for worthless checks, in Tampa in 2003 when he worked as a reporter for Bay News 9.
