The steps and preparation already taken for universal health care are many. Dating back to the early 70's. The groundwork and the prep work has been done. IMHO the only remaining obstacle is public opinion-- and that particular lesson was learned the hard way in 1993.

The 30's and 40's are a vastly different animal compared to the here and now, and I seriously doubt Universal Health Care will have a Germany declaring war on the U.S. (or any other hand-me-down analogy) to force it into reality...
