8. How do you figure that "Free trade has been killing us" if our trade figures are much better
with "free trade" countries than with the rest of the world. Unless you believe that all trade is bad, why would you want to single out the trade that we do best?

None of us "have seen the results" because Reaganomics never did work. His tax cuts for the rich helped them but not the rest of us. His union busting worked for the rich but not for the rest of us. His attacks on the safety net worked for the rich but not for the rest of us. His deregulation of Wall Street and corporations worked for the rich but not for the rest of us.

Reagan "talked the talk" of free trade, but he did not "walk the walk". His first and only "free trade" agreement was in the last year of his administration in 1988. It was with - horror of all horrors - that progressive country to the north, Canada.

Ask any liberal in Europe or Canada and they'll tell you that your country and its middle class don't stand a chance when your government pursues a broad policy of something like Reaganomics. They know that trade (which they have a lot more of then we do, including "free trade") is a good thing, but only if you don't destroy your middle class with everything that Reagan and his conservative cronies and successors did.
