2. WHERE is there a biography on this neanderthal?
Edited on Mon Oct-31-05 08:02 AM by Divernan
I have googled him and come up with nothing except a few referrals to some judicial opinions, and a number of articles about ANOTHER Samuel Alioto - who is president and CEO of a pharmaceutical/beauty product company called MediNiche, which collaborates with another pharmaceutical company called CollaGenex Pharmaceuticals. Is this Pharma Alioto related to the Judge? I haven't seen reference to the judicial nominee's age, marital status, education, children, etc. What's his family background? There have been descriptions of him as Catholic. Given his ultra conservative rulings, I suspect he's another rapid Opus Dei fanatic, like Scalia and Clarence. Given Opus Dei's aggressive recruiting, they'd have gone after him when he was first appointed a judge by Bush, Sr., if Alioto wasn't already a member. I'd like to know what parish he belongs to. Is it his neighborhood church, or some Opus Dei enclave?

As to his rulings, I was particularly surprised he opposes the Family Medical Leave Act. In our society, where nearly every working person has either still-at-home-children, aging parents, or a spouse/partner in need of help re medical conditions/emergencies, the FMLA is used by one hell of a lot of people. And they are EXTREMELY grateful for it's protections. Alioto might as well attack motherhood.
