26. Most of the problems have disappeared ????
I am also over 40 and have been flabbergasted by ecological realities pushed aside and conservation trends being urged on us in the 70's being slowly reversed by expert PR campaigns and "free market" ideologies that push consequences off to the future for others to solve.

GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE proceeds and accelerates, but the 0.05% of scientists who disagree with the well documented warnings are given equal time on our media to "balance" their coverage, so folks can cling to the "golly, it is just a theory," concept.

GLOBAL OIL SUPPLIES are limited and we need oil to help us make the transition to more alternative energy sources and keep other products we rely upon, and yet, tax DEDUCTIONS are given for gas guzzling SUVs. When we should be paying more taxes for cars that get less mileage per gallon.

TROPICAL FORESTS are still being destroyed at a rapid clip, and whereas we were concerned about avoiding the use of tropical hardwoods, they are now back in vogue and chic youngsters seek them out for home furnishings and the like.

SOME POLLUTION REDUCTIONS have been achieved but a certain president is trying to push "Friendly Skies" upon us-- friendly enough to let up on those bothersome pollution controls.

Just because lots of money, time and attention has been put into debunking bothersome ecological problems doesn't mean they no longer exist.
