Gephardt represents the conservative wing of the party, and he plays dirty when it comes to politics (like threatening union leaders from his own state because they endorsed Dean-this was before IA, obviously, but it still rankles). I fear this will happen, however, because Kerry figures Progressives will hold their noses and vote for him anyway, just to get rid of Bush. It may win him the election, but I think it will cost him in the long run, because Progressives will start looking towards building a third party that better reflects their views.
