but today I got a site that provided a list of charities with the overhead percentages...

of that list the ones with the lowest overheads that were accepting donations were I believe

AmeriCares (overhead of only about 1%)
Catholic Charities
Salvation Army
Mercy Corps

Salvation Army had the lowest overhead at .8%

After doing very little research I think I've chosed AmeriCares - they already have an airlift in progress and they can reach alot of people in a short time

Salvation ARmy has people on the ground right now and are already working - another good choice
