First off, Saddam did not lie. He said he had no WMDs
Second, isn't the US responsible for many of those killed by Saddam? I think so in at least three ways. (1)the US armed Saddam with WMDs, took him on as an ally for his oil and for his battle with Iran since we were angry at Iran for unseating the Shah and for taking US hostages. (2) We incited the Kurds to and other Saddam opposition to rise up and overthrow Saddam's government. What's a leader to do if his government is threatened to be overthrown by people just evil and vicious as his own regime? What would a GW Bush do if the Panthers or some other group decided to try to overthrow the US government? We incited these people and then left them in the lurch, never minding that they were really insurgents trying to overthrow their country's government (tyrannical as it was). (3)US sanctions and bombings and our backing of Kurdish killing Iraqis has to account for at least 2/3 of those mass grave holdings. We need to get a grip.
