I'm not originally from here, I'm from California, but I've learned quite a bit of the state's history, so I know what you're saying. Even more to the point is that Missouri had its share of lynchings right up through the late 1930's, so it was very important to me that both my Senators sign on to this bill.

I would also just add that while some states lacked a formal Jim Crow system, there is no state that is free from a history of violent racism. And racism is still a huge problem here today, just as it is nationwide.
