9. Sales of newspapers has been on the decline
And that's not just the New York Times. It has been a long, slow, decline for American newspaper publishing. They have to find new sources or revenue. Even the NYT is a business! Personally, a buck a week to read Paul Krugman, Maureen Dowd, and Frank Rich is worth a buck a week.
