29. The notion of a true Christian is not so easily resolved
Edited on Fri Oct-14-05 12:57 AM by Az
You site some very wonderful ideas from the book of Psalm. And truly they do speak of kindness, generousity, and fellowship. But from the same book can be found ideas in keeping with the Bush camp.

From the book of Psalm
18:32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.
18:33 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.
18:34 He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.
18:35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.
18:36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.
18:37 I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
18:38 I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.
18:39 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.
18:40 Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.

It is really fruitless to try to remove the name Christian from them. Neither you nor I can truly answer whether they are. There is only one that can answer this if he/she/it exists and he/she/it will know his/her/it's own.

The best we can do is observe their deeds and declare whether we take their actions to be good or ill. I for one look on in horror at their actions and understand them to be Christian by their claim. But I do not take them to be representitive of all Christians nor do I believe they are good representitives of Christianity. They are simply representitive of their own particular model of Christianity.
