5. Saddam was a monster. What is unfair is the the Iraqi people will
not get a "truth & reconciliation trial" like they had in South Africa. Not a full one.

Bad things happened to thousands of people under Saddam. Hating George Bush does not mean SAddam was a good guy. He was a monster. The people of the country deserve to share the experience of what that freak did to them and their psychis. As Iraqis will tell you themselves - once there is peace (okay they said this early on in the American war) once there is peace then we will have to deal with our own dam selves and what we were a part of under saddam.

Just like Americans - in a lesser way - have to deal with how they were duped by the Rove WH and what that means about their characters.

All people who get fooled or terrorized into silence and compliance - have work to do.

It would be so good for those people and if you watch the news - the people with 'disappeared' family members are the very first ones lining up to watch the trial.

It will mean that Sunni Baathists will not be able to turn to their families and say - it was great under Saddam. It will mean people all over the country will get a chance to share in a sort of healing that is required after trauma.

It may mean more peace. Concessions from Sunnis. Healing for the traumatized.

It will mean alot to them. EAch and every one.

I am only sad that it will not be a year long. (Likely just a Saddam trial lite so that Reagan & Bush Sr. WH will not have to answer for their early participation with Saddam). I don't deny the politics in this and that a trial favours the Bushes. A longer one would be better and would favour the Bushes less. The truth is the truth.

People need it to move on with life and be real.

Not everything that happens in the world is about America or what one side or the other in American politics would like to see.

Sometimes it is actually about the people there themselves. A longer trial would be better for them all. Not not trial - or a short trial. A long trial is how war crimes are universally tried.

I feel sorry for Iraqis that this trial will be cut short.
