5. The problem is not so much finding a societal GUT...
as it is, in gaining a fair hearing for the powerful analyses that have already been advanced.

IOW: There are plenty of brilliant writings demonstrating how environmental destructiveness, & insane concentrations of wealth & power incompatible with social justice, follow directly from the nature of monopoly capitalism. But these types of critiques can never gain a fair hearing in our society -- precisely because those insane concentrations of wealth & power will always marginalize the hearing.

Thus, we are doomed to live in a system that predictably creates a certain type of misery. We are allowed to bemoan this misery. We are just not allowed to do anything about alleviating its real causes.
