SAO PAULO, Brazil -- Police in the northeastern city of Recife found seven human skulls under a bridge wrapped in a black plastic garbage bag, police said Wednesday.

The skulls were found Tuesday by a street sweeper cleaning the area underneath the bridge, Marcia Botto, a spokeswoman of the Criminal Investigation Institute, said.

Recife, 1,300 miles northeast of Sao Paulo, is the capital of Pernambuco state.

"All we know now is that none of the skulls had jaws and only one had a full set of teeth," Botto said. "We believe they may have been stolen from some cemetery for use in a black magic ritual."
