if your bank does not have an electronic transfer agreement with the credit card company, they do issue a check electronically. Usually the bank also indicates allow 3 to 5 days for the check to clear

I am surprised they wouldn't remove the late fee after you called them

You mentioned you have another credit card that you are going to cut up. That is reasonable, but many people do not realize that if they cancel the card they may actually take a few points off your credit score

One has to be very careful since they passed the bankrupcy bill. There are clauses in it which say if your card is stolen, and used by someone else, you may still be liable for the charges
