I love old-school Star Trek.

But just about every permutation of it went noticeably south at one point. The Original Series was hit-and-miss during Season 3 (part of why they cancelled it, though it was a Catch-22, if you know the story).

The Next Generation, ironically, became better as it went along, even though many characters were composites of TOS characters (Data, Riker, etc). It aged well, like a fine wine.

DS9 and Voyager started out somewhat promising, but DS9 went south after a couple of seasons, and Voyager started to suffer right at the first episode (they could have written them into the Delta Quadrant and at least HAD IT MAKE SENSE).

Enterprise.....sucks. Though I hear that, too, improved during the last season. Didn't bother to watch it after the 5th episode, though.

But Rick Berman perhaps single-handedly killed Star Trek.
