I've got a guilt button the size of Texas. Or maybe Alaska. Or Siberia. Yeah, that's it. Siberia.

And yes, your job is to keep that guilt button intact and unpushed. Because when the guilt button gets pushed, the 'defensive' button usually does, too. And, invariably, that leads to the conclusion that the best defense is a good offense...and then, before you know it, someone's offended, hurtful words are spoken and can't be retracted no matter how many times it's tried and, well...

Take a deep breath. C'mon...breathe. In.....out.....in.....out....

This too shall pass. You'll see. Think of it as someone who's envious of a friendship. Maybe if you included whoever it is that's trying to push your buttons?

And, if not, remember that business that we heard when we were kids...don't let them win. Eventually they'll get bored and wander off in search of juicier, more interesting ways of pushing your buttons. Or maybe they'll get engrossed in something like Pogo.com games.
