Mouse makes off with Maine man's dentures

March 24, 2007

WATERVILLE, Maine --A Waterville man who's on the losing end of a cat-and-mouse game says a field mouse made off with his dentures.

Bill Exner said he has captured the pesky mouse three times. Each time, the mouse escaped. And the last time the rodent made off with his lower dentures.

-------------------------------
"He brought a crowbar and hammer and he sawed off a section of wood and pulled up the molding and everything," Exner said. "It was quite a job. We pull it out and he looks down and he goes, 'I don't believe it -- there they are!'"

--------------------------------
Just like the cartoon "Tom and Jerry," the mouse appears to be getting the last laugh. Often, the rodent appears out of nowhere and stares at Exner, his wife said.

"He's taunting him -- I swear he's taunting him," Shirley Exner said.
