8. Interesting.
I didn't realize Eccleston was that old or that Davies was prejudiced. I think a younger doctor would be best, but only because the doctor's on his tenth incarnation and can't regenerate indefinitely. (I'm such a nerd.)

I have no conception of the shows' history, but I thought the relationship between Rose and the Doctors was a highlight of the show. The ninth and tenth doctors have also mentioned being a father, as well as snogging people in previous incarnations. But Wikipedia indicates that the show started out as an educational kids' show, with the doctor and his granddaughter. It does seem like an entirely different show.

It looks like Netflix has a number of older Doctor Who episodes on the "View on Demand" service. Most feature the doctor with the scarf. I'll check those ones, when I'm finished with Season 3 of the new series. Viva la internet. :)
