MONDAY "IN" THE UNDERGROUNDRAILROAD (A Day In The Lounge)

UNDERGROUNDRAIROAD FROM THE GIT-GO

Welcome to Monday In The Undergroundrailroad . Today I am serving a delicious Apple Pie al la mode. I think Apple Pie can be a healthy dessert when we use fresh apples and substituting some ingredients for low caloric ones. I have eaten fat-free ice cream, very low in calories, and could not even tell the difference.

I hope you enjoy your Apple Pie and icecream. Grab your beverage and let's go to the Undergroundrailroad.

MAKING YOUR BED AND DA LAYING IN IT

Oh what a beautiful morning, but will it a beautiful day? Or should I put it this way? Did YOU make your bed UP this morning???

For many of us, the bed is our favorite spot in the house and is the most important personal piece of furniture in our homes. Whether relaxing, reading, watching television or sleeping, a cozy and comfortable bed is what we're all looking to create. People spend more time in their bed than anyone place during our day (or night) time schedule. Should it not be comfortable, friendly and resourceful ? Soft blankets, fluffy pillows, comforters and sheets. In short everything you need to personalize your bed.

When I was growing up, there was bed "duty" every week. Along with my siblings, we presented in the washroom our mattress cover, sheets and pillow shams. While that was being washed we would help each other in rotating our mattresses. It was our custom to hang the sheets out to dry on a clothes line with clothing pins. One of my favorite was "ticking" sheets, very popular years ago. I loved helping with this part because I loved darting and diving into the drying sheets to test their wetness or dryness ! When everything was dry it was time to make the bed. My mother wanted our sheets folded and tucked with tight corners at the foot along with constant smoothing. No wrinkles and our comforters were turned down along with the top sheet making our beds look like an art form with the completion of our fluffy "cloud like" pillows.

Upon completion, I took great joy in looking forward to bedtime. There's nothing like the feel of climbing into a freshly made bed. A little personal attention to those small details in constructing your bedding will pay off with visual pleasure and physical comfort.
