26. on the more serious side...
our family took out what VERY little savings we had... went food shopping and got a cashiers check for a mortgage payment and brought it to an "ex" family member who had children, and had an eviction notice the week of Christmas.

I feel my children got as much out of it (in a different way), as did hers. She found it hard to accept (I've been there and I know it can be humiliating and equally relieving)and we both agreed not to tell our "common family members" about this. She would've been looked down upon and I would've been yelled at. We both are two black sheeps in the family. One of the things I've learned is that a black sheep of a dysfunctional family is really a white sheep.
