10. That's a good idea.
However, the money you donate would go to the council itself which does need operating money, but the cookie sale generates the funds for the TROOPS to operate. That money allows girls who might not otherwise be able to afford it the means to join in troop trips, projects and activities that dues just don't cover. In addition, individual girls can earn 'camperships' to help pay for summer activities.


If you do decide to just donate, find a troop in your area and donate the money to the troop, not just the council. Or, better yet, sponsor a troop. It doesn't mean putting out a lot of money...membership dues for yourself, maybe some craft supplies or helping find a speaker on a topic the troop is working on, or giving some time to help out with the troop.
