Can someone ID this song ?

I have been vexed the past months by a song I've heard several times and can not identify song or artist.
Could you Lounge Lizards please take a second and help me out?

I've heard it on sound systems of nice stores.

It starts off with strumming electric guitar beat and a seductive lady sort of sing-songing in a low voice thereafter. Progressively her range grows revealing a strong feminine voice. The song ends with a "In the middle of the night...yes, yes, yes."

Other lyric Phrases include:

----
Distant drums are the beating heart in my chest.
Seas will rise, cities catch fire, skies are falling.
Walked a spell with you.
Close your eyes, hand in mine.
Hold on tight.
Stay for awhile.
----

The line "Close your eyes, hand in mine" is probably the catchiest most memorable part.

I have to say it's a recent rock song played as Adult Contemporary or Easy Listening, though I think it's a little
edgy for the latter.

Thanks for any help and I'll send any person with correct answer a choice of recent political books!
