You know the drill.

"Cast In Bronze"

The figure, shapely and nimble
With fingers turning to leaves
Runs through the forest as a
monkey through trees

On seated marble, the shadow
Casts a light in to the eyes
Of the gentle giant of alloy
Basking brightly into skies

The blue, the gray, the sounds
Of cannon fire and rifle shots
Inundating the bravery of the few
Only to fall, and so the body rots

In glimpses of visions we see
That which Moses could not enter
Into the land of milk and honey
We gravitate to the center

Around and around the globe will spin
Turning on axis and taking in sun
And all of space digests this whim
As we progress to other ones.

The day is over, the night begun
How tragic is it we never won
If only fate had been more kind
We'd all live happily within our minds

Draw from this statue all ye may
The giant sits in ruins of clay
Until the day the winds sweep away
All that is rotten, all that's decayed.

Ok, I couldn't decide on a specific topic so I mixed Civil War references with Greek mythology. I also didn't stick to a specific meter or rhyme sequence but I think it works.

Post away, folks!
