3. C.S. Lewis is known to most people as the author of "The Chronicles Of Narnia"
which are Christian-themed fables thinly disguised as fantasy novels.

Lewis was a "born-again" Christian, in that he was an atheist before converting to Christianity. One of the people credited with convincing him to accept Christianity was his friend J.R.R. Tolkien, who was a Roman Catholic.

After his conversion, Lewis became a brilliant theologian. His book "Mere Christianity" is a wonderful discourse on Christian themes, and contains warmth, compassion, and intellectual strength. Unlike a lot of right-wing Christians today, Lewis emphasized the importance of love, and accepted and promoted scientific inquiry as a Godly pursuit for mankind, instead of denouncing it as an un-Christian plot.

Poor Lewis had the misfortune to die on November 22, 1963, the same day as John F. Kennedy. Lewis's death will forever be a footnote to the events of that day.
