"Taming the Tiger Within"

Picked it up at the Gaithersburg Friends of the Library book store recently.
It is amazing. I felt like a new human after reading it.

I can't focus on long periods of meditation - I probably have a touch of attention-deficit disorder. But his writings have at least showed me how to breathe and focus for short periods.

It also helps to understand the "practice" he refers to. At its most basic level, it is the practice of slow breath in, slow breath out, focusing on the breath and being in the present. His "The Miracle of Mindfulness" is a good starter book. I learned about him from a UU church service a few years ago when the service leader taught us this simple breathing meditation from the book.

"Breathing in, my body becomes calm.
Breathing out, I smile.
Dwelling in the present moment,
I know it is a wonderful moment."

blessings, LE
