17. Good call
At least helps you sort 'em out.
Tough cases may require more extreme measures - like this tip from MythBusters

A handy reference:How Thermite is Made. New! Version 2.1 with updated recipes!

Thermite is a mixture of easily obtainable and inexpensive chemicals that, when lit, burns at around 4000 degrees. It can easily burn right through thick steel!

Thermite isn't an explosive, but rather it creates intense bursts of very high heat. And, its really, really cool to watch!

It has been featured in podcasts and television shows alike (The Broken, Brainiac, MythBusters) and is used for various experiments...Destroying data on a hard drive, melting a laptop, destroying a car, opening a safe, melting into silly putty and using it to melt the locks off of doors, etc..

The How Thermite is Made ebook provides simple directions detailing:

Thermite Safety.
Uses for Thermite.
How the necessary ingredients are easily obtained.
Recipes for Thermite including

high efficiency versions.
Super Thermite.
Explosive Thermite
Thermate (Underwater Thermite!)
Moldable Thermite

Sadly, this is one of the few effective ways to deal with extreme cases.
Perhaps sharing some fertilizer with your "friend" could mend fences.... http://youtu.be/Hpxu1GTXh0s
