5. Absolutely, we need new leadership!
That will help, but it won't be a solution. We need citizen empowerment from the local to the national level to shake loose corporate power over our lives. After the abuses of the 1920s and the crash of 1929, our representatives did implement laws to protect and empower workers. But "our representatives" have been steadily removing those protections since then. Depending on our representatives is a future of continual corporate dominance over us. Any change for the better brings a change soon for the worse. This back and forth status quo is not acceptable.

I don't think it is cynical to see a rut that is insurmountable. We need to recognize when greater efforts are needed to remove obstacles to a future of peace and security.
