Friend Says Joke Led To Shooting

Police Looking For Gunman

POSTED: 4:19 pm CDT June 2, 2004
UPDATED: 5:28 pm CDT June 2, 2004

OMAHA, Neb. --
What started as a car crash turned into a shooting investigation overnight. Council Bluffs and Omaha police are looking for a man they believe shot another man as he drove along Interstate 480.

Wayne Preister (pictured, left) is wanted for allegedly shooting at three Omaha men. Preister and the men were all at Razzle Dazzle, a dance bar in Council Bluffs, when the men made a crack about the rims on Preister's car.

Raul Shaw got in a separate car from his two friends. Mark Jura is one of the friends. Jura said that after the incident at the bar, all four men parted peacefully. Then, as Jura was following Shaw across the I-480 bridge into Omaha, he heard gunshots and Shaw's car hit the barrier.

Police first on the scene Wednesday morning thought Shaw had crashed, then realized he was the victim of a drive-by. Shaw was shot twice in the head.
