And there you've hit it. Brand loyal. Perfect description. That's exactly what it is. I know a friend who has tried desperately to woo his parents away from the GOP. He asked them a series of policy questions, and on every one, they agreed with Kerry, not Bush. But they are lifelong Republicans and cannot yet swap sides. Another four years of this bozo, though, and I think they'll desert. My friend said he, too, found it very hard the first time he didn't vote Repub, and he's only been voting in two elections at the time. But he'd been raised in an R family and it was hard to turn his back on that.

That's different than saying we are conservatives as a whole, though. As my friend told his parents, this is not the Republican party he grew up with. Or that they grew up with. Seriously, Nixon was a freakin' liberal (and honest to boot) next to this crew. America just has to wake up and realize that these neo-cons are ruining the GOP.
